Glass Bubble Project




A busy Saturday at Mike Kaplan's Glass Bubble Project studio, in a converted garage in Ohio City in Cleveland. The resident rooster is named Morty, and he likes to be held.

Lucy's Sweet Surrender



Marika of Lucy's Sweet Surrender on Buckeye Road in Cleveland, a traditional, old world Hungarian bakery that is one of the last vestiges of what was once the second-largest Hungarian enclave in the world, the Buckeye-Woodland area. The breads, cakes, pies and pastries at Lucy's, thanks to the skill of Marika and Mike Feigenbaum, are nothing short of heavenly. Marika here presents the Triangle Cake, a house-shaped confection baked in a special custom mold.

We wandered into this lovely animal show at the Music School Settlement in University Circle, Cleveland, which found children joyfully (and at times fearfully!) meeting and petting snakes, tortoises, small alligators and even a fuzzy tarantula, courtesy of the affable Jungle Terry.
