Around midnight Tuesday, a fire possibly ignited by a bolt of lightning gutted the historic Euclid Avenue Congregational Church in Cleveland. By midday, only portions of the outer walls remained of the 123-year-old stone edifice. The congregation, which will continue to meet at nearby churches, was founded by abolitionists and is committed to peace and social justice.
